First Kiss
My love and I went out
Into the west
To view the setting sun
Beyond the crest
We laughed at silly things
As on we strayed
To watch the night descend
And claim the day
We wandered through the woods
With hands entwined
And shared the deepest thoughts
Within our minds
“Ad maioram Dei glorium”,
We wished to fight
To shatter Satan’s sword,
And save the light
Upon the rolling hills
Their lay a spell
And when it first was cast
No tongue can tell
We spoke of golden tales
And sang old songs
Such strains should never die
Until we’re gone
We felt at greatest ease,
Like dearest friends
It seemed that magic hour
Would never end
We saw a falling star
And made a wish
We shared a soft embrace
And gentle kiss
The chilly nighttime breeze
Ruffled my hair
He tucked it back in place
With tender care
The haunting summer moon
Upon us shone
We headed down the hill
And made for home
We lingered by my door
For some small while
We laughed an awkward laugh
And queerly smiled
Then he slipped a ring
Into my hands;
I squealed with sheer delight
As home he ran

ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful poem, thank you for posting it!
However:
"Oh, and a small disclaimer here: this poem is an not an autobiographical account of yours truly!!!"
I am not sure I buy that disclaimer - haha!
I wouldn't be surprised if the postman had complained about the amount of cards he had to deliver to you! :-P
Take care!
God Bless
